Peekskill High School students gain real-world experience through 'Apprentismith' program

A new program at Peekskill High School is giving students a head start on their careers.
"Apprentismith" unites local youth with businesses and artists, equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in the workforce.
Over five weeks, students are immersed in a curriculum that covers project planning, design, and other essential skills. The program's founder, Glenn Smith, emphasizes the program's practical approach.
"The kids not only work on the projects and the applications, but they actually get to go home with a computer and a full suite of the applications, so they can take these skills into the real world," said Smith.
One project that students are working on is a redesign of the Cortlandt Colonial's website. The website will soon receive a fresh look thanks to the talent and dedication of these young apprentices.
