Supporters are getting their steps in today at Glen Island Park in Westchester for a walk that's raising money for multiple sclerosis research.
The president of the Greater New York City and Long Island chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society estimates that over 1,000 people are walking today. The chapter helps to raise around $300,000 in funds that will go toward finding a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Glen Island Park was decked out in orange, a color often associated with multiple sclerosis awareness. Several teams are participating, including Corona's Crew who helped raise around $6,000 for research. The team is led by Nicole Cipolla, an MS patient.
"This means beyond words to have my friends and family here to support. This is our fourth year doing this,” Cipolla said.
